In an exciting milestone for the new city of Waraba, the Lilywood Landings community is embracing green space and recreation with the opening of its very first park.

Designed to enhance the lifestyle of residents for generations to come, the park will stretch for more than three hectares through the centre of the neighbourhood, connecting the leafy precincts and riverside walks that our residents love.

With thoughtfully created seating, meandering paths, and fun play areas, the amenity is set to become a vibrant hub that promotes outdoor activity, wellbeing and a strong sense of community.

In a proud nod to the past, it’s also been designed to reflect the history of the site, which was formerly an old dairy farm.

Landscape architect and Associate Director at AECOM Jason Daley said the old farm sheds had been a particular source of inspiration when it came to the design process.

“I think cementing the history of the site which is undergoing such a significant change is important,” he said.

“We wanted to build the story of a dairy farm into the park’s design, creating a meaningful connection to the land.

“The thoughtfully designed sheds and rural-inspired elements offer a nostalgic nod to the area’s heritage, allowing visitors to experience a touch of the countryside within the community.”

Carefully placed fig trees will provide year-round shade and also enhance the dairy farm aesthetic, alongside other native plants.

The design also incorporates the soft bends and curves of the Caboolture River in its mounds, tree structure and garden beds, while coloured geometric shapes are inspired by nature and entice residents to explore by creating visual cues for wayfinding and connectivity.
