Lilywood Landings has helped pave the way for a new approach to community safety, with City of Moreton Bay announcing an innovative partnership model that is bringing CCTV infrastructure to some of the region’s fastest-growing neighbourhoods.
The initiative sees Council and developers share the cost of delivering CCTV in new residential communities, helping ensure public safety infrastructure is established early as new neighbourhoods take shape.
Lilywood Landings was the first community to partner with Council on the initiative after Lennium Group approached Council to explore a new way of delivering CCTV in emerging residential areas. The model has since expanded across Waraba, with the initial partnerships delivering 15 new CCTV cameras throughout the growing community.

Mayor Peter Flannery said the partnership would help create safe, connected and resilient communities from day one.
“Residents deserve to feel secure in their own homes and in public spaces, which is why Council is making CCTV a priority across the City, including in our newest housing areas,” he said.
“By working with developers to share the cost of providing CCTV, we can ensure public safety infrastructure is installed at the earliest opportunity.”
While the new Council partnership represents the next step in enhancing community safety, Lennium Group has prioritised security at Lilywood Landings since the community’s earliest days.
State-of-the-art security cameras have been operating throughout the estate since construction of the first homes commenced, providing an added layer of reassurance for buyers and helping establish a safe environment as the community grows.
The new cameras include advanced licence plate recognition technology that can automatically identify vehicles of interest and provide real-time alerts to the Queensland Police Service when required. The technology is designed to support police investigations and help keep communities safe.
Lennium Group Development Director Ian Worthington said the company believed community safety should be considered alongside roads, parks and other essential infrastructure from the very beginning.
“When we started planning Lilywood Landings, we wanted to ensure residents could enjoy peace of mind from the moment they moved into the community,” he said.
“That’s why we invested in security cameras early and approached Council about how we could work together to expand that approach into the wider public realm.”
Ian said Lennium Group welcomed Council’s decision to formalise the partnership model.
“It’s a great example of what can be achieved when the public and private sectors work together with the same goal in mind,” he said.
“As Waraba continues to grow into one of Southeast Queensland’s newest cities, initiatives like this help create a community where people feel safe, connected and proud to call home.”
Waraba is planned to eventually accommodate around 70,000 residents, with new schools, parks, employment precincts, shopping and community facilities all forming part of the city’s long-term vision.
The new CCTV partnership will help ensure public safety infrastructure grows alongside the community, supporting residents from the earliest stages of development.
