Every new community reaches a point where it starts to feel like a neighbourhood rather than a construction project.
At Lilywood Landings, that change is already well underway, with residents connecting through a growing online community that is becoming a handy place for locals to buy and sell household items and recommend local businesses.
Just a few months after launching, the Facebook buy, sell and advertise group has already attracted almost 200 members. A separate Lilywood Landings Residents group is also gaining traction with more than 270 members discussing various aspects of community life.
For many new homeowners, these groups are proving to be an invaluable community resource.
Residents are using the trading page to sell furniture and household items as they upgrade their new homes, give away items to neighbours, recommend trusted local trades and services, and discover new home-based businesses operating both within Lilywood Landings and the surrounding area.
Among the businesses already promoting their services are home-based lash and beauty studios, luxury candle makers and lawn care specialists, while residents have also been sharing recommendations for nearby businesses, including nail technicians and other personal services.
Lennium Group Development Director Ian Worthington said it was rewarding to see the community developing its own identity so soon after the first residents moved in.
“One of the most exciting parts of creating a new community is watching neighbours begin to settle in and connect,” he said.
“People naturally want to know who’s nearby, who can recommend a good local business or who might be looking for a piece of furniture they need that might be just around the corner.”
Ian said the growing online community reflected the friendly and supportive culture emerging throughout Lilywood Landings.
“It’s fantastic to see residents supporting one another, particularly local small businesses and home-based operators,” he said.
“Those kinds of connections are what help turn a new estate into a genuine neighbourhood.”
As more families make Lilywood Landings home, the online community is expected to continue growing, providing another way for neighbours to connect, share recommendations and support local businesses while helping build a strong sense of community from the ground up.
