New Caboolture vision to boost jobs and connectivity

28 September 23

An ambitious program to reimagine and revitalise the heart of Caboolture will pay dividends for future Lilywood Landings residents with new job opportunities and improved connectivity.

The new vision outlined by the City of Moreton Bay will be a partnership between governments, industry and the community that will redefine the current image and character of Caboolture.

“We want new businesses bringing in greater job opportunities for locals, a thriving and distinctive café and dining culture, connection to the river plus improved streetscapes and pedestrian connections,” said Mayor Peter Flannery.

“Home to the Caboolture River and Centenary Lakes, a contemporary state-of-the-art gallery, quality sporting facilities, prime development land and transport we have big ambitions for Caboolture, focusing on a greener, more connected, and livelier centre,” he said.

Lilywood Landings is the gateway community to the new City of Waraba, formerly known as Caboolture West, which is expected to be home to around 70,000 people.

While Waraba will eventually have its own dedicated town centre, it will still be closely connected to all the services of the Caboolture CBD, and the sport and recreational amenities of riverside Centenary Lakes.

The Reimagining Caboolture Revitalisation Vision says Caboolture city centre is primed for reinvigoration, supported by $44 million of investment by the City of Moreton Bay over the next five years.

“The planned investment from council, faster rail connections, and the headwinds of Brisbane 2032 as well as the City Partnership Deal present a unique opportunity for Caboolture,” it says.

“This revitalisation vision aims to inform a refreshed image and character for Caboolture that is vibrant, adaptable, and sustainable. Caboolture could offer an urban country experience that is fundamentally distinct from Moreton Bay’s other centres.”

The vision includes a focus on attracting employers to Caboolture who can offer new jobs to locals – the ability to work close to home for a better quality of life – while also breathing new life into the city.
